MF DOOM's debut album was a complete game-changer when it was unleashed on unsuspecting hip hop heads. Backpacker types immediately became enamoured with DOOM's left-field beats which drew upon obscure funk, soul, jazz and cartoon/comic book samples, providing the perfect backdrop for the masked MC's abstract wordplay and complex rhymes. Just remember it's all caps when you spell the man's name!
Black vinyl 2LP on Metal Face with alternative MC cover artwork. Includes poster insert.

New York rapper Your Old Droog and Atlanta rapper/producer Tha God Fahim present their latest collaboration in Tha Wolf of Wall Street. While Fahim trades in brass-tacks metaphors, Droog leans more toward punchlines and pop culture-laden double-entendre. Like any effective duo, their contrasting styles dovetail seamlessly on their new EP Tha Wolf on Wall St. The entire project is an assured slice of underground rap, but the pair’s compatibility shines brightest on the title track. Fahim and Droog move back and forth like co-stars on a long-running cable drama, and Fahim’s production provides a more serene mirror reflection. Fahim laces each of the EP’s eight tracks with sedate loops, splitting the difference between his and Droog’s clashing styles.

Originally only available in Europe in limited quantities, Lex have repressed the Deluxe double vinyl LP edition of ‘The Mouse & The Mask’ for 2019.
Lex has a history of lavish packaging but this remains one of the lushest sleeves in the catalogue. Designed by EHQuestionmark, the outer sleeve is made from thick translucent textured plastic with DOOM's mask printed on the cover, and mouse ears on each side of the mask forming a pattern that looks like a Rorschach test (a technique reused in another Danger Mouse project six months later). The inner sleeves, visible through the outer at first glance pattern based on an Ishihara test, but inside the circles in the pattern are tiny icons depicting different disasters - climate change, acid rain, holy war, nuclear leaks.
"The Mouse and the Mask" was produced by Lex super-producer Danger Mouse. The album features CeeLo Green (also of Gnarls Barkley), Talib Kweli, Ghostface Killah, Money Mark and the cast of cult cartoon show Aqua Teen Hunger Force and remains MF DOOM's best selling album to date.
All vinyl orders receive a 320kbps MP3 digital download of the album.

Elzhi, the “Syllable Sensei” is back again with a highly anticipated release titled Seven Times Down Eight Times Up. This 12-track LP is a collage of memories and metaphors layered atop beats crafted by up-and-coming producer JR Swiftz. With collabs from Detroit artists, Monica Blaire and Fes Rock on two of the album's stand-out tracks, Elzhi’s new masterpiece showcases his ability to create meaningful concepts while Detroit’s own comedian and real Hip Hop advocate Foolish provides commentary throughout the album.
As one of Elzhi’s most cohesive releases to date, his wordsmithing abilities paint images of royalty, excellence, and zombies wearing Gucci, all with an underlying message of resilience. Seven times Down Eight Times Up is the mantra for a year that has seen lots of downs, and reminds us that no matter what we're faced with, we will remain undefeated, and get back up after being knocked down by this machete-wielding maniac we call life.

Taking you down memory lane with the results, the experiences of this hip hop duo feed into the music and lend an extra air of authenticity to it. The original is a hard hitting tune with big boom bap beats and raw rhymes next to smart samples. Your Old Droog is back with the much-anticipated new album Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition. Once again the rap savant is putting his personal story at the forefront, going even further than the themes of his previous collection Jewelry. “My last project was about unapologetically claiming my heritage as a Jew,” explains Droog. “This one is about embracing my Ukrainian and Eastern European roots”. Executive produced by Mach-Hommy and Tha God Fahim , the album features appearances from both of those artists along with El-P (Run The Jewels), Black Thought (The Roots), Phonte (Little Brother), and Billy Woods. Rooted in raw, minimalist production, Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition is a perfect showcase for Your Old Droog’s transcendent lyrical skills and vivid storytelling, imbued with the Ukraine-born emcee’s reflections on growing up as a Russian-speaking immigrant in Brooklyn.

On their ambitious collaboration, New York rap heavyweights Rasheed Chappell & Buckwild have perfectly captured the stress and tension, but also faint sense of the hope, of what it means to be a sinner or a saint. In just 11 tracks, Sinners & Saints plays like an audio documentary series filled with expertly crafted beats and rhymes.
When the two sat down to work together, Rasheed says that they only knew that they “wanted to address the now, the past, and the potential future.” And upon receiving the first batch of beats from Buck—the D.I.T.C. producer with decades of acclaimed work to his name—the NY emcee used a majority of them and knew immediately what they were doing.
“My goal was simple: don’t try to recreate anything they have done, just create something that no one else can do, which is to be me,” Rasheed says. Buck echoed that sentiment when he talked about the record in a documentary, in which he expressed his excitement to work with not just a talented rapper, but a skilled artist. “Being an artist is just as important as putting two words together to rhyme,” Buck explained.
That high level of artistry, from everyone involved, is what makes Sinners & Saints so impactful. Not just anyone could pull off a track as stirring as “The Blue Hood,” in which Rasheed plays the role of a racist, corrupt police officer over Buck’s harrowing production. The same goes for “Rock Bottom” where he and Ransom sound off about life’s low points, and “Bredren,” a speaker-knocking middle-finger in musical form featuring Planet Asia.
There’s just so much to love about what these two have created with Sinners & Saints, a project that sounds like if 2020 was a hip-hop album. And if things do truly get better as we move into 2021, there’s no better anthem than “Black Owned,” a powerful anthem for Rasheed, Buck, and everyone listening.

“Shook Ones Part II” might be one of the biggest records to come out of New York in
the mid 90’s. From the moment you hear the bare hi-hat and the infamous line “to all
the killers and the hundred dollar billas” it is an immediate adrenaline rush. The beat
alone is a work of art, Havoc constructed what would go on for years as “how did he
actually come up with that beat?!” amongst DJ’s and Producers alike. The infectious
piano, cinematic sirens, it was no doubt that it was one of (famed New York nightclub)
The Tunnel’s most signature records. As Cipha Sounds put it - “How could it not rip
in The Tunnel? Just classic. 'Shook Ones Part I' was actually pretty big in the Tunnel,
but ‘Part II' ripped everything." When “Shook Ones Part II” came you couldn’t help
but nod your head and get lost in Havoc and Prodigy trading verses breaking down
the meaning of a crook…making you shook son. Not to be left out “Shook Ones Part
1” is on the flipside that came out months earlier with a much more subdued beat and
slightly different lyrics. Most 12” aren’t built like this, so to be on 7” for the first time
ever this is a must have….son.

It is a tall boast, but it’s backed up two different ways: by fans of the group from back in the ‘90s who knocked each other over in record
stores to get the latest Pete Rock production; and by record buyers today, who still hear the same freshness in the group’s sound that
people did more than two decades ago.
These two songs are taken from the group’s legendary first full-length from 1992, Mecca & The Soul Brother. Originally, both were their
own 12-inch singles, but for this special, first-time-ever 7-Inch release, they are paired together.
