Remastered from the original tapes and pressed on loud double vinyl In 1995, fresh off the success of Nas's landmark debut album Illmatic the year prior, Columbia Records released Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerouz, the first LP by a relatively unknown Harlem MC named Big L. Few at the time would realize that Lifestylez — which was only a modest commercial success at the time - would go on to be considered a true classic of the era, comparable to Illmatic itself. Armed with a cocky Uptown attitude, a sharp wit and production from the likes of Lord Finesse, Buckwild and Showbiz, Big L established himself as one of New York's Hip Hop heavyweights with an album that balanced radio appeal with uncompromising hardcore lyricism. From the smooth sounds of 'M.V.P.' to raw posse cuts like '8 Iz Enuff' and 'Da Graveyard' (which featured a rookie MC from Brooklyn by the name of Jay-Z), Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerouz solidified Big L's status as a Hip Hop legend despite being the only studio album released prior to his tragic death in 1999. Traffic Entertainment is proud to release Big L's classic debut album in a double-LP pressing for the first time ever, with a fold-out poster featuring the iconic album cover included. SIDE A 1. Originally only available in Europe in limited quantities, Lex have repressed the Deluxe double vinyl LP edition of ‘The Mouse & The Mask’ for 2019.
Lex has a history of lavish packaging but this remains one of the lushest sleeves in the catalogue. Designed by EHQuestionmark, the outer sleeve is made from thick translucent textured plastic with DOOM's mask printed on the cover, and mouse ears on each side of the mask forming a pattern that looks like a Rorschach test (a technique reused in another Danger Mouse project six months later). The inner sleeves, visible through the outer at first glance pattern based on an Ishihara test, but inside the circles in the pattern are tiny icons depicting different disasters - climate change, acid rain, holy war, nuclear leaks.
"The Mouse and the Mask" was produced by Lex super-producer Danger Mouse. The album features CeeLo Green (also of Gnarls Barkley), Talib Kweli, Ghostface Killah, Money Mark and the cast of cult cartoon show Aqua Teen Hunger Force and remains MF DOOM's best selling album to date.
All vinyl orders receive a 320kbps MP3 digital download of the album.

In the Beginning Vol. 2 continues the treasure trove of the early works of Declaime & Madlib, the longtime collaborators who helped usher in a new sound and style from the city of Oxnard, California.
This collection is brimming with previously unheard tracks from this beyond-creative duo that blends hip-hop with funk, jazz, soul, and psychedelia to lay the groundwork for so many other emcees and producers. For Declaime (a/k/a Dudley Perkins), this series serves as a way to honour his friends and the city that raised them. He shouts out names like The Almighty Metaphor (aka MED), Oh No the Disrupt, DJ Romes, Kazi, and more, who he says “created a lane for the city of Oxnard to get the recognition it deserves.” Some of them make an appearance in one form or another on this collection, too—Romes, for example, mastered the project—that compiles 10 previously lost tracks that were recorded from 1993 to ‘96.
In The Beginning Vol. 2 is entirely produced by Madlib, who provided all the cuts as well. His instrumentals are on that raw and dusty vibe as they move freely through genres and sounds, like on standout cuts “Bandwagon,”WLIX,” and “Signs (feat. Wildchild).” Those are all highlights for Declaime, too, and they demonstrate his ability to blend his observations of the world with bravado and third-eye insights. Even as young kids just getting their feet wet in the studio, these two were firmly on their path.

The super group Deltron 3030 is composed of producer Dan the Automator, rapper Del tha Funkee Homosapien and DJ Kid Koala and sometimes features guest artists who also take on varying futuristic pseudonyms. Originally released in 2000 on the now-defunct 75ARK record label, this hip hop concept album was released the same year as the Gorillaz’ first 12″ and is on a similar plane. Following the release of Deltron 3030, all three members participated in the Gorillaz’ self-titled debut album. With Del aka Deltron Zero on vocals, Dan the Automator aka The Cantankerous Captain Aptos on production, and Kid Koala aka Skiznoid the Boy Wonder on turntables, this album takes the listener on a paranoid journey set in a dystopian year 3030 dealing with viruses, the apocalypse, an oppressive government, and a war waged against a huge company called the Corporate Bank of Time that rules the universe, all to the well-crafted and consistent musical backing of the Automator. Appearances by Damon Albarn (The Gorillaz, Blur), Prince Paul, Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Money Mark, Paul Barman, Mark Bell (Bjork, production), Sean Lennon, and Mr. Lif compliment Del’s vocal style and add the right amount of flavor to this classic period piece.

Your Old Droog is back with the much-anticipated new album Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition. Once again the rap savant is putting his personal story at the forefront, going even further than the themes of his previous collection Jewelry. “My last project was about unapologetically claiming my heritage as a Jew,” explains Droog. “This one is about embracing my Ukrainian and Eastern European roots”. Executive produced by Mach-Hommy and Tha God Fahim , the album features appearances from both of those artists along with El-P (Run The Jewels), Black Thought (The Roots), Phonte (Little Brother), and Billy Woods. Rooted in raw, minimalist production, Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition is a perfect showcase for Your Old Droog’s transcendent lyrical skills and vivid storytelling, imbued with the Ukraine-born emcee’s reflections on growing up as a Russian-speaking immigrant in Brooklyn.

Elzhi, the “Syllable Sensei” is back again with a highly anticipated release titled Seven Times Down Eight Times Up. This 12-track LP is a collage of memories and metaphors layered atop beats crafted by up-and-coming producer JR Swiftz. With collabs from Detroit artists, Monica Blaire and Fes Rock on two of the album's stand-out tracks, Elzhi’s new masterpiece showcases his ability to create meaningful concepts while Detroit’s own comedian and real Hip Hop advocate Foolish provides commentary throughout the album.
As one of Elzhi’s most cohesive releases to date, his wordsmithing abilities paint images of royalty, excellence, and zombies wearing Gucci, all with an underlying message of resilience. Seven times Down Eight Times Up is the mantra for a year that has seen lots of downs, and reminds us that no matter what we're faced with, we will remain undefeated, and get back up after being knocked down by this machete-wielding maniac we call life.

While Eto’s concept album Eto Brigante is definitely one of the highlights of his discography, one wonders what the project would have sounded like if the whole album was produced by a single beatmaker. Well, as good as the original is, listeners now have the chance to hear the lyrics buoyed by the singular vision of German producer TrickyTrippz. More than a remix album, this body of work aims to intensify Eto’s rap retelling of the classic gangster film Carlitos Way.

Finished in 1998, unreleased until 2000, and featuring reworked material that dates back to the trio's earliest years, Fantastic Vol. 2 is practically a retrospective of Slum Village's career. After producer Jay Dee started working with A Tribe Called Quest, the hip-hop press was anxious to label this Detroit trio the second coming of Tribe. In truth, it was something much more interesting. At a time when hip-hop was obsessed with singles, Slum Village was all about song sketches. At a time when the public demanded bombast from its artists, Slum Village embodied introversion and intimacy. At a time when shiny music was in fashion, Slum Village made songs cloaked in the dirt and dark mystery of Detroit. Fantastic Vol. 2 has indelible beats and stellar raps, but beyond that, it's more than anything a master class in mood. The song structures are often faint, but had the group worked these sketches into conventional singles they'd lose the ghostly, sexy, understated vibe that is this album's essence. 'Players,' 'Tell Me,' and 'Untitled / Fantastic' have all since become underground classics.
