Brazilian deep house maestro Apoena has hopped around all kinds of labels, shoring up at Underground Quality and Stuga Musik in the early days, but now you're most likely to find him rolling out the good stuff on his own Allnite imprint. This collection of Edits Brazuca are as potent as anything he's released since first coming to light back in 2010, kicking off with the bright and breezy horn-soaked "Track 1" before sinking into a Latin jazz flavoured groove on "Track 2". "Track 3" is a little more like a classic French touch jam, all looped up soul samples and sassy disco beats. "Track 4" takes an easy approach that feels like it comes from the Stevie Wonder school of funk.
Dungeon Meat's self-titled label is not known for its subtlety, and so it goes on this rip-roaring various artists 12" featuring three rough and ready jams for the peak time house crowd. Blunt Instruments get things going straight away with the mean New Jersey swing of "Kum On", as tough and bumping a house cut as you're ever likely to find. Ron Obvious steps up with "Mindful Vision", bringing an utterly addictive stripped down garage-y shuffle to the table, while Per Hammar finishes the EP off with the breaks-embellished "BX Chamber", a freaked-out dub-soaked affair for the heads down crowd.
Please note this is a pre owned record. Media Condition VG+, Sleeve Condition VG+.
Always known as a producer with a wild gift for handling dense layers of micro-sampled sounds, Bruno Pronsato's latest project sees him embracing a more organic palette and applying his gift for undulating, minimal psychedelia to live instrumentation, and the results are staggering. There's an undeniable krautrock quality at work in the tracks, with added vocals that inject a little new wave energy into the mix, but still Pronsato's deft touch and oddball inclinations shine through. Highly advanced rhythms and wild moods make this a thrilling and downright funky listen from start to finish.
