To celebrate the Love Record Stores event Mr Bongo have created a special edition of the album. Pressed on clear vinyl, this single LP collectors’ item features their favourite tracks from the original album. Carolina is the Brazilian virtuoso Seu Jorge's debut full-length album from 2002. Originally released under the title ‘Samba Esporte Fino’, its release and subsequent international acclaim dovetailed with Seu Jorge’s ascent into movie stardom. He is probably best known outside of Brazil for his work on Wes Anderson’s 2004 film 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’, in which he played a starring role and his Portuguese covers of David Bowie records were a highlight of the soundtrack. Having initially found fame thanks to his standout performance as Knockout Ned in the revered movie ‘City of God’. Carolina would cement his global fame and launch an illustrious musical career that has earnt him a Grammy nomination.
Co-produced by Mario Caldatto of Beastie Boys and Planet Hemp fame, the album presented a vibrant, contemporary combination of samba and funk, backed by guitar, bass, drums, percussion, and horns. It kicks off with one of Seu's most loved tracks 'Carolina', an anthemic feel-good classic with timeless energy, ending in a sing-along crescendo. Other highlights included the Brazilian-Funk of 'Mangueira' reminiscent in places of Tim Maia with its 80s inspired vibe, and the catchy jazzy-samba of 'Tu Queria' which always ignites the dance floor.

You never hear anyone asking for a The Woodentops reunion but they were quite major players in the UK indie scene of the mid '80s. Leader Rolo McGinty went off at a tangent with this 1995 album as Pluto which saw him head off in an electronica / trance / house direction. The end result sounding more like Larry Heard or Terrence Parker than The Housemartins. Much deserved re-issue.
Deep blue vinyl, expanded reissue 2LP on Glass Modern.

Sub Pop release Low's Ones and Sixes. The album was co-produced by the band and engineer BJ Burton at Justin Vernon's April Base Studios in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The record nicely balances the band's trademark immediacy (Into You and Kid In The Corner) with more sprawling, experimental fare (the blistering, nearly 10-minute Landslide or DJ, a track that could be a spiritual cousin to Trust's Shots and Ladders). Throughout the record, electronic flourishes bubble under the surface while the cavernous-sounding guitars rip and echo around the corners. Low never let you down.

20th anniversary edition. A stunning compilation of Jackie Mittoo, one of the defining figureheads of reggae music, and his years at Studio One. From forming the Skatalites, at age 15, alongside Don Drummond, Roland Alphonso, Tommy mMccook and others to his work as writer, arranger, producer at Studio One records during the sixties, writing and playing for artists such as Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe, Marcia Griffiths and the Heptones (to name a few), to his career as a solo artist as well as leader of bands such as the Soul Brothers, Soul Vendors and the Sound Dimension, Jackie Mittoo is at the heart of reggae music. He was one of the instigators of ska music, rocksteady and reggae. In the seventies, DJ music and dancehall were based upon classic rhythms of the sixties, many using the instrumental tracks that Jackie Mittoo created at Studio one at this time.
This compilation features the work of Jackie Mittoo at studio one. It features music recorded as a solo artist (as opposed to the numerous singers that he accompanied). most of these are taken from his recordings in the mid sixties where he was recording on an almost daily basis at Studio One's Brentford road studios developing the funky reggae sound that was his trademark.

Nirvana’s 1989 debut album still remains the best-selling album to have ever been released by Sub Pop, who Nirvana were signed to before they made their major label jump for the game-changing Nevermind. Bleach is notable for its scrappy sound, which is rooted in the style of the Seattle grunge scene at the time, although songs like the classic ‘About A Girl’ offer glimpses into the more adventurous songwriting that Kurt Cobain would later develop. Bleach is also notable for featuring original drummer Chad Channing, who left after the album’s release and was replaced by Dave Grohl. The reissue features a bonus live album recorded in 1990.
